Things to Know Before Owning a Cat
When you are about to become a cat owner, you only desire the best for your fur baby. How can you make your house as welcoming as you can when a lot of things are new to both of you? What can you do to help your cat feel safe, strong, and comfortable with this personalized cat blanket? Every new cat owner checklist must include cat scratchers, additional scattering boxes, and plenty of playtimes. Below are some tips that every new cat owner must know.
1. Make Your Cats Feel Safe and Sound
Your cat will be a bit shy at first, so do your best to make your house as embracing as you can. It’s quite common if your cat feels shy and hides from you. Cats don’t usually like change, and they may require time to get used to all the different smells and noise in your home.
2. Regularly Go to the Vet
Look for the best veterinarian for your cat, schedule a checkup, and ensure his vaccines are updated. Think of getting him a microchip as well. Save the microchip number and an image of your new cat on your phone in case he ever leaves. You’ll be happy you did.
3. Expose Your Cat to Other Pets Moderately
As soon as you bring home a new cat, gradually include her in your other pets, like your furbaby. Keep your new cat in a different room and feed them on either side of a closed door. Place each pet’s bedding in the other pet’s room and swap rooms seldom so they get familiar with each other’s scents.
4. Think of Trying Various Kinds of Litter and Boxes
It’s usually a wonderful idea to have one case box per cat, plus an additional box. Cats can get a bit territorial about their trash boxes, so ensure your new cat has sufficient space.
You may also need to try various styles of litter and boxes. Some cats prefer more delicate litter, while long-haired cats may fancy crystal litter that doesn’t get stucked to their fur.
